Greater Bay Area Legacy Honor Medal Award Ceremony

The inaugural "Carbon Neutrality and Sustainable Development" Gold Award, the first "Charter for Carbon Neutrality and Sustainable Development Goals," and the inaugural "Greater Bay Area Legacy Honor Medal" Award Ceremony, along with the 2023 "Hong Kong Legacy Foundation" 5th Anniversary Charity Dinner, were successfully held on Thursday, December 14, 2023, in the banquet hall of the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel.


First and foremost, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr. John Lee; Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr. Eric Chan; Financial Secretary, Mr. Paul Chan; and Secretary for Justice, Mr. Paul Lam, for their congratulatory messages, which greatly contributed to the success of this event. Thank you very much!


The evening began with a beautiful adaptation of the song "Edelweiss" from the classic film "The Sound of Music," performed by students from "Pooi To Primary School of Hong Kong," retitled "Nature." The event was officially opened with speeches by our special guests, including National People's Congress Standing Committee member, Executive Council member, and Honorary Advisor of the Hong Kong Legacy Foundation, Dr. Ko Wing-man, GBS, JP; and Chairman of the Hong Kong Legacy Foundation Executive Council, Dr. Zhao Zhisheng, MH, who offered words of encouragement. Additionally, our distinguished guests joined the students in singing "We Are The World," celebrating the spirit of charity and mutual support. The audience illuminated their phones, creating a heartwarming and bright atmosphere. Special thanks to film star Mr. Nelson Chiang and to Ms. Kam Ling, the Chairperson of the Hong Kong Island Women's Association, for leading the singing.


We also express our gratitude to Executive Council member, Chairman of the Carbon Neutrality and Sustainable Development Committee, and Honorary Advisor of the Hong Kong Legacy Foundation, Dr. Donald Li, SBS, BBS, JP, for officiating and presenting the awards and certificates for the inaugural "Carbon Neutrality and Sustainable Development" Gold Award and the "Charter for Carbon Neutrality and Sustainable Development Goals." Special thanks to Chief Honorary Dean of the Greater Bay Area Academy, Mr. Eddie Ng, GBS, JP; Chairman of the Hong Kong Legacy Foundation Executive Council, Dr. Zhao Zhisheng, MH; and President of the Greater Bay Area Economic and Trade Association, Dr. Su Zuo-Yiu, MH, for presenting the awards and certificates alongside Dr. Li to the distinguished enterprises and institutions.

The Hong Kong Legacy Foundation, in response to global climate change and in support of carbon neutrality, initiated the "Greener Green Tree Planting Project." With a of HKD 108 from each guest, the Foundation will plant three trees in the Kubuqi Desert in Inner Mongolia, China, on their behalf. The Hong Kong Legacy Foundation, in recognition of significant contributions to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, held the inaugural "Greater Bay Area Legacy Honor Medal" award ceremony during the dinner. We thank Honorary Advisor Dr. Donald Li for presenting the awards. Honorees will join the Hong Kong Legacy Foundation Executive Council and include:

The awards include:

Certificates of Appreciation were also presented to representatives from the 9+2 cities of the Greater Bay Area for participating in the "Fire Dragon Legacy·Action." Special thanks to the Chairman of the Greater Bay Area Economic and Trade Association Executive Council, Honorary Advisor of the Hong Kong Legacy Foundation, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Island Women's Association, and Ms. Kam Ling, MH for hosting the charity auction. We appreciate the generous donations from auction participants supporting the philanthropic work of the Hong Kong Legacy Foundation.
